Minisode: Mysterious Voices

NARRATION:
Hey, listeners. We've got another minisode where we reveal some interesting research the twins do about the mysterious author of Take Back Time, L. J. Ortega. First, to set things up, we'll replay a clip from episode 6. Remember when Beni is supposed to be working on his history project, but instead, the twins look up L. J. Ortega on ComicKidsOrbit dot com?

BENI:
There’s a new post. Secret audio of the elusive L. J. Ortega!

ALEXA:
Wait. What?

BENI:
Greetings Take Back Time fans, I found a short clip of audio with the voice of the mysterious L. J. Ortega. I can't say where I got this, but the original cassette tape was definitely real. It was transferred to this MP3 file. Link can no longer be found?

ALEXA:
Okay. Hey. There's an update from the person who posted the link.

BENI:
A moderator said I can't post an audio file if I don't say where it came from. Here's a password-protected page instead. For the audio: figure out the password with this clue.

CLARA opens the door to the room.

CLARA:
What's going on?

NARRATION:
You probably remember that the twins don't get to listen to the secret audio that night or that weekend because they're grounded. But later that week, Alexa and Beni are able to go back to that message board on ComicKidsOrbit.com. And here's what happens when they do.

2017. THE VENTURA HOME - OFFICE. NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.

MUSIC: HOME TRANSITION. 

ALEXA:
Here’s the page. There’s nothing here except: Please enter the password.

BENI:
All right. What do you think it is? Timestorm?

BENI types.

BENI:
Invalid password. Attempt one of three. You guess this time.

ALEXA:
I don't know. Take Back Time? 

ALEXA types.

BENI:
Invalid password. Attempt two of three.

ALEXA:
How are we supposed to guess this without a clue?

BENI:
Let's see that update again.

ALEXA:
For the audio: figure out the password with this clue. But where is the clue?

BENI:
Wait a minute. Notice anything about the word 'clue'?

ALEXA:
It's in a different font. You don't think...no that makes no sense. How can a font be a clue?

BENI:
Ooh! Ooh, I know what to do. Janelly showed me. Here. Let me.

BENI types.

ALEXA:
What's a reverse font search?

BENI:
There's our font.

ALEXA:
No way. It's called tempus? That's the password! 

BENI types.

BENI:
All right. Tem...pus.

ALEXA | BENI:
We're in! | We did it!

BENI:
Congratulations. You figured out the code. Here's the audio you seek.

ALEXA:
Yes!

BENI clicks the mouse.
Static-y audio comes through the speakers.

MYSTERIOUS VOICE 1:
—ah— [unintelligible] —mmm— [unintelligible] —unos—

MYSTERIOUS VOICE 2:
[unintelligible] —jo—

MYSTERIOUS VOICE 3:
—ho— [unintelligible] —so— [unintelligible]

MYSTERIOUS VOICE 1:
—no— [unintelligible] —ro— —ay, no [unintelligible] —ra—

MYSTERIOUS VOICE 3:
[unintelligible] —oh—

MYSTERIOUS VOICE 1:
[unintelligible] —pa— [unintelligible]

A young female screams. The cassette abruptly cuts out.

ALEXA:
Um, what did we just listen to? And what does it have to do with L. J. Ortega?

BENI:
I have no idea.

NARRATION:
Whatever is going on in that audio is definitely strange and hard to understand. I guess we'll have to wait until next season to see if they can figure out what exactly is going on with these mysterious voices.
